The details of this year's 2024 World Championships Women TT are falling into place. Find the latest route profiles and maps below, followed by our strategic preview of the race.
The road to Zurich promises to be a brutal test of aerodynamic efficiency and raw power as the world's best time trialists converge on what is expected to be a demanding course suited to the pure specialists of the discipline.
Defending champion Ellen van Dijk will not be among the starters, leaving a significant void at the top of the startlist and opening the door for a new champion to be crowned. The Dutchwoman's absence means the rainbow jersey is very much up for grabs, and several riders will arrive in Switzerland believing they have a genuine chance of pulling on that famous garment.
Chloe Dygert is the overwhelming favourite. The American has been in frightening form throughout the season and her power numbers are in a different category to almost anyone else in the peloton. Her ability to sustain enormous watts over a long effort makes her the rider to beat on virtually any time trial course, and she will be desperate to add a world title to her already considerable palmares having come agonisingly close on previous occasions.
Marlen Reusser will be hoping to perform on home roads and the Swiss rider has the ability to produce something special when motivated by a crowd. Grace Brown of Australia is another name to watch, as is Demi Vollering, who has shown she can time trial at the very highest level even if her best results have come in stage races.
The course itself will play a significant role in determining the outcome, and those who have reconnoitred it carefully will carry an advantage. Expect Dygert to start as a heavy favourite, but this is a discipline where the unexpected can always happen.
