Course Preview

The 7th stage of La Vuelta is a lumpy race between Archidona and Cordoba. The route is 179 kilometres long, and with 25 kilometres remaining, the only classified climb of the day is crested.

Peter Sagan (2011), John Degenkolb (2014) and Magnus Cort (2021) – they all glorified in the streets of Córdoba, respectively in 2011, 2014 and 2021. In a more distant past Oscar Freire, Tom Boonen and Paolo Bettini also celebrated in the city with the Córdoba has the highest summer temperatures in Europe.

The race in the deep south of Spain is played out on undulating terrain before the only KOM climb of the day, Alto del 14%, which refers to the steepest ramp of the climb. The average gradient of the 8.4 kilometre-long drag sits at 5.3%. A rolling section leads to the downhill, before the last 12 kilometres are entirely flat.

The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint comes with 6, 4 and 2 seconds.
