Course Preview
The Barossa Valley hosts the 1st stage of the Tour Down Under. At 144 kilometres, the race will likely see a sprint finish in Tanunda. The race consists of three identical circuits, all featuring Menglers Hill.
Menglers Hill appears in all laps. It is a moderate ascent of 3.8 kilometres at 3.6%, but with a section up to 13%. There are mountain points available at the summit on all three occasions.
The last two editions of the Tour Down Under – in 2023 and 2020 – also featured a Tanunda-Tanunda stage. Phil Bauhaus outgunned Caleb Ewan and Michael Matthews last year, while Sam Bennett took the spoils four years ago.
Two intermediate sprints come with 3, 2, and 1 seconds each, while the first three riders on the line take time bonuses of 10, 6, and 4 seconds.
