Welcome to our live coverage of Stage 3 of the 2024 Tour de Suisse! Our live profile and commentary are below, followed by a preview of the technical aspects of the route.
Course Preview
The third stage of the Tour de Suisse includes an elevation gain of 1,974 metres over a 161.7 kilometres course. Most climbing metres are crammed together in a finale that should suit the puncheurs.
The riders travel on undulating terrain for the first 125 kilometres of the race. Then, a 4.1-kilometre climb at 5.2% takes them up to Oberwil.
The finale opens inside the final 17 kilometres with the 3 kilometre climb to Aeugst am Albis. The average gradient sits at 6.7%. There is hardly any descent before the riders tackle the 2.4 kilometre drag at 5.8% up the Albis Pass.
From the pass elevation, it’s 8.1 kilometres to the finish line in Rüschlikon. The first half of which goes downhill before a false flat – first up, then down – precedes the 800 metres kick up to the finish line. This decisive stretch rises at 7.7%.
Starting at kilometre 133.0, the Golden Kilometre offers two opportunities to gain time bonuses of 3, 2, and 1 second. The first three riders at the finish line take 10, 6, and 4 seconds.
