Race Recap

Coquard wins stage 2

A rolling to hilly race concluded in Regensdorf with a sprint of a decimated peloton. Bryan Coquard took the spoils ahead of Michael Matthews and Arnaud De Lie, while Yves Lampaert stayed in the lead of the general classification.

Gerben Kuypers, Roberto Carlos González, and Félix Stehli initiated the breakaway shortly after the start, while Luca Jenni and Antoine Debons rejoined them a little later to make it five at the front. They opened up a lead of over four minutes before González got dropped around the halfway marker.

The gap has fallen below one minute as Jenni headed out alone on the Regensberg, but he was caught just before the top.

Søren Kragh Andersen attacked on the descent, and Mauro Schmid went with him. When they were caught in the valley, Alberto Bettiol accelerated. The pack brought the Italian back just before the flamme rouge.
