2024 Tour de Romandie Stage 1 Results & Recap
Stage 1 of the 2024 Tour de Romandie is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.

Godon wins stage 1
Dorian Godon won a messy sprint from a reduced in the steets of Fribourg and claims the leader's jersey in the process after a hilly start to the road stages of Romandie. His lead-out Andrea Vendrame finished in second, and Gianni Vermeersch took third. The latter moves up to second place on GC.
Fausto Masnada attacked shortly after the start and the Italian was soon joined by five men, Juri Hollmann, Rune Herregodts, Patrick Gamper, Joey Rosskopf and Raúl García Pierna. They put four minutes into the peloton during the course of the race.
Jan Christen struck out of the peloton on the last haul up to the Chapelle de Lorette. Richard Carapaz and David Gaudu went with him, but they were reeled in with 32 kilomtres remaining.
The lead of the six was almost gone when Julian Alaphilippe attacked at the end of the last climb of the day. With about 15km to go, the break finally got swallowed up and the fight for the sprint was on.
