The riders travel from Château d’Oex to Fribourg in the 2nd stage of the Tour du Romandie. The elevation gain adds up to 2,650 metres, while the route totals 165.7 kilometres.

The race opens with a short circuit in Château d’Oex and concludes with two 40.3 kilometres laps around Fribourg. The route goes up and down from start to finish, while the run-up to the finishing circuit features one KOM climb. It’s the ascent to Sorens that stands out with its 4.4 kilometres at 7.4% and a steepest ramp of 15%.

The riders move through the village of Sorens after 50 kilometres of action and 23 kilometres later they enter the Fribourg circuit. Straight away the climb to Arconciel throws in 2.2 kilometres at 5.9% before the first crossing of the finish happens 9.2 kilometres further down the road.

Shortly after the passage on the line the punchy climb to the Chapelle de Lorette takes the riders up the hill over the old town of Fribourg. It’s a punchy toil – 1.1 kilometres at 10.4% with a maximum kicker at 20%. On rolling terrain the riders continue back to the Arconciel climb, which as said, is crested 9.2 kilometres before the finish line. The same lap is ridden one more time before the arrival on the Boulevard Pérolles in Fribourg.

Fribourg hosted its last stage on the Tour de Romandie in 2021. It was an ITT, which was won by Rémi Cavagna, ahead of Stefan Bissegger and Geraint Thomas.

The first thee riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds.
