Race Recap
Philipsen Completes Hat Trick
Jasper Philipsen powered to his third sprint victory in the streets of Nîmes. He outperformed Phil Bauhaus and Alexander Kristoff, while Tadej Pogacar stayed in the lead of the general classification.
Stefan Küng attacked from the gun, and Sandy Dujardin rejoined him. The attack didn't last very long. Küng was the first to stop his efforts, and then Dujardin did the same.
There was no notable movement until the intermediate sprint, after which Thomas Gachignard headed out alone. The 23-year-old Frenchman opened up a maximum lead of over 2 minutes. With over 20 kilometres remaining, his effort was history.
Green jersey Biniam Girmay crashed out around one of the roundabouts in the finale and didn't get to sprint. Jasper Philipsen, on the other hand, was perfectly led out by Mathieu van der Poel. Last year’s green jersey winner powered to his third win in this edition, besting Phil Bauhaus and Alexander Kristoff.
The GC remained unchanged with Tadej Pogacar solid in yellow.
