Philipsen captures elusive win

The peloton stayed together almost all day in the race from Orléans to Saint-Amand-Montrond. Then the race culminated in a fast finishers showdown, with Jasper Philipsen coming out on top after a perfect lead out by Mathieu van der Poel. Tadej Pogacar kept the yellow jersey.

The riders took it easy for almost 50 kilometres. Then Harm Vanhoucke, Kobe Goossens, and Maxim Van Gils jumped off the front. The first two pushed on together until the intermediate sprint. Then Vanhoucke stopped his efforts, which inspired Goossens to do the same.

An uneventful race ended with an explosive bunch sprint. Jasper Philipsen finished off a perfect lead out by his teammates, while Biniam Girmay and Pascal Ackermann came home in second and third.

The GC remains unchanged: Tadej Pogacar retains the yellow jersey.
