Course Preview

In the 6th stage of the Tour de France Femmes, a 160-kilometre hilly route connects Remiremont to Morteau. The riders traverse two mountain ranges, the Vosges and Jura, while the last climb—1.8 kilometres at 6.9%—is situated 15 kilometres ahead of the finish line.

The Col du Mont de Fourche appears shortly after the start. The 3.2 kilometres climb at 5.9% forebodes the kind of terrain that the riders face in the second half of the race. The rest of the first half is flat and slightly undulating at most.

The terrain changes shortly after moving through Geney, with some 75 kilometres left to race. The Col de la Ferrière opens this part with 2.6 kilometres of climbing at 4.7%. Right after the downhill the Côte de Laviron throws in 5.7 kilometres at 4.1%.

By now, the riders are traversing the Jura Mountains. The finale opens after moving through Consolation-Maisonnettes. In fact, the road goes almost entirely up for the subsequent 17 kilometres. The first climb is La Roche du Prêtre – 5.5 kilometres at 5.6% -, but there is no descent after the KOM sprint. Instead, the route continues to climb at moderate gradients. Following a short drop, the last climb of the day, Côte des Fins, adds 1.8 kilometres at 6.9% to the mix.

The Côte des Fins peaks out 15 kilometres before the finish line in Morteau. The first part is a descent to Villers-le-Lac, and the second is flat.

Juliette Labous and Évita Muzic will be eager to perform well. Both once rode for the local cycling club, VC Morteau-Montbenoit.
