What a spectacular day of racing on the roads of Italy. Primoz Roglic delivered a masterclass in time trialing to claim victory on the individual time trial stage of this year's Tirreno-Adriatico, further cementing his grip on the overall race lead.
The stage was a test of pure power and aerodynamic efficiency, and the Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe leader rose to the occasion in emphatic fashion. Roglic set off looking composed and measured from the opening kilometers, gradually building his effort and producing an absolutely devastating performance that left his rivals with no answer.
The Slovenian star crossed the finish line with a time that proved untouchable throughout the remainder of the field. His nearest challengers in the general classification did their best to limit their losses, but Roglic was simply in a different class today, adding precious seconds to his overall advantage.
Defending his position in the standings throughout this race, Roglic has looked increasingly comfortable and dominant. His time trialing ability has long been considered one of the finest in the peloton, and today was yet another reminder of just how formidable he can be against the clock.
With the overall standings now looking even more favorable for Roglic, attention turns to the remaining stages and whether any of his rivals can find a way to challenge him before the race reaches its conclusion on the Adriatic coast. On this form, however, that task looks extremely difficult.
