2024 Tirreno-Adriatico Stage 5 Live Coverage

Course Preview
The route of the Tirreno's 5th stage goes either up or down from start to finish. The finale of the 144 kilometres long race commences on a 12 kilometres climb at 6.2% before the riders fly downhill to a flat section along a reservoir. The final kilometre rises at 7% to the line.
Following a minor climb from the start the real uphill action begins on the climb to Penna Sant’Andrea, which is a 4.3 kilometres long toil with an average gradient of 8%. The riders are 32 kilometres underway when they move through the hilltop village.
The Tirreno-Adriatico descends to Castelnuovo Vomano, only to go back up again on a 4 kilometres slope at 6%. The climb then flattens out for a bit before the riders reach Castellalto after 2 more uphill kilometres at 4%.
That’s the story of the day. Up-down, up-down… up-down, up-down. The climbs are never steep, but the sheer repetition will wear the riders out.
At kilometre 70 the riders move through Bellante after a 4 kilometres drag at 5% and that’s the last short climb. The route continues for tens of kilometres on a winding and rolling false flat. A short descent after Bivio Campli and 10 kilometres on the flat precedes another short descent to Villa Lempa, at the base of the San Giacomo. The ascent is 12 kilometres long and averaging 6.2%.
Still 24 kilometres left to race at the summit of the San Giacomo. The riders fly downhill to Lake Talvacchia and continue along the reservoir to Valle Castellana. This section is roughly 10 kilometres long and features two uphill sections. The first – 3 kilometres at 4% – appears shortly after the descent, while the second is the final kilometre, which is climbing at 7%.
The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint comes with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
