Welcome to our live coverage of Stage 6 of the 2024 Paris-Nice! Our live profile and commentary are below, followed by a preview of the technical aspects of the route.
Course Preview
The longest stage of Paris-Nice travels from Sisteron to La Colle-sur-Loup. At 198.2 kilometres, it's a hilly race with a finale on a descent before the last kilometre kicks up at 4%.
Following the start in Sisteron the route is hardly demanding for tens of kilometres. Gradually the course changes from flat to false flat and, eventually, after more than 60 kilometres, into the Col de Lèques. The 6.6 kilometres climb at 5% opens a 25 kilometres long climbing section. The race descends to the foot of Col de Luens (6.8 kilometres at 4.7%) and then, after a negligible downhill, it’s time for the Côte de la Blachette (2.9 kilometres at 5.5%).
The riders stay at altitude – 1,100 metres – for roughly 10 kilometres before descending to the Col de Gourdon. One could argue that this 6.3 kilometres climb at 4.3% is the prelude to the finale. From the top – with almost 60 kilometres to race – the riders fly down to La Colle-sur-Loup fo a first passage on the line.
The final lap is 31 kilometres long and opens with the CĂ´te de La Colle-sur-Loup, a wall-like climb of 1.8 kilometres at 10%. The race then continues on an upward rolling false flat and, eventually, a 900 metres climb at 7.9% to Tourrettes-sur-Loup. This is where the intermediate sprint happens.
It’s 21 kilometres from Tourrettes-sur-Loup back to La Colle-sur-Loup. The riders fly downhill until the route goes up again after the flamme rouge, a section with an average gradient of 4%.
The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint comes with 6, 4 and 2 seconds.
