Course Preview

The individual time trial of the Critérium du Dauphiné covers 34.4 kilometres from Saint-Germain-Laval to Neulise. The flat to undulating course includes 375 metres of climbing.

The ITT opens with a descent before the riders speed across flat terrain to Pommiers-en-Forez, after which the course features some mild undulations. Following Saint-Georges-de-Baroille, there’s a slight downhill leading into a 2.5 kilometres climb at 3.6% up to Pinay. The route continues on rolling terrain towards a short descent before a 2.3 kilometres uphill at 3.1%.

After passing through Saint-Just-la-Pendue, there’s another brief, gentle descent, followed by a nearly flat section leading into a 500 metres climb at 5.5%. The riders reach the highest point with 600 metres to go, which is a perfectly straight stretch.

Overall, the course is suited for pure ITT specialists who can push a big gear. Around 15 kilometres into the race, the riders descend to the Loire, and after crossing the river, the route becomes more winding for a while.

There are two intermediate time checks – at kilometre 10 and kilometre 24.9.
