Race Recap

Cort wins stage 2

Breakaway rider Bruno Armirail was caught with just 150 metres remaining before Magnus Cort sprinted to the stage win and leader's jersey. The Dane outsprinted Primoz Roglic and Matteo Jorgenson with a comfortable margin.

Bruno Armirail, Mathis Le Berre, Jonas Gregaard, Xandro Meurice and Filippo Conca attacked from the gun. The five opened up a lead of over five minutes before the peloton took the reins.

Le Berre pocketed most KOM points at the first three climbs, and he was the new King of the Mountains.

The gap fell below 1 minute on the Col de la Croix Ladret when Armirail attacked. He reaches the summit with a 25-second lead before extending it slightly on the subsequent false flat.

The gap started to go down in the last 3 kilometres and from there, the peloton timed it perfectly to come around Armiraill right at the end.
