Course Preview
The 7th stage of La Vuelta looks enticing for fast finishers. The 200.8 kilometres long race runs from Utiel to Oliva, a coastal place south of Valencia city.
The route traverses the Valencia province from west to east. Following the start in Utiel – famous for its Utiel-Requena wine appellation – the first part of the route is lumpy. And while the riders are approaching Valencia city the terrain gets flat and flatter. The finishing venue Oliva is situated 80 kilometres south of Valencia on the Mediterranean coast. It boasts 8.5 kilometres of sandy beaches.
To the south of Oliva, you’ll find Pego-Oliva Marsh Nature Reserve. It’s a swamp with surrounding rice fields, making it a perfect habitat for a wild variety of birds.
A sprint finish is next to certain, as the last 100 kilometres run along the coast and are as flat as can be.
The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint comes with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
