Race Recap
Kron crushes on stage 2
Andreas Kron (LTD) rode clear in the final kilometres of another chaotic and wet stage of the Vuelta a Espana to win the biggest race of his career today in Barcelona. The 181 km stage was business as usual at the start. Still, rain throughout the day made the slick roads even more treacherous, and, just like yesterday's team time trial, multiple crashes left the riders frustrated with the organizer's decisions, despite the move to take the GC time from 9km to go to make the finale safer.
Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceuninck) claimed the sprint out of a small chase group for second, and Andrea Vendrame (AG2R Citroën) took third.
Early breakaway rider Andrea Piccolo (EF Education-EasyPost) takes the leader jersey, and Javier Romo (Astana Qazaqstan) is second overall. They were caught with about 5km to go in the stage.
