Course Preview

The 10th stage of La Vuelta is an individual time trial with start and finish in Valladolid. The 25.8 kilometres long route features a 600 metres climb at 6.5% and the rest is as flat as it gets. So, a perfect course for a specialist who can push a big gear.

The start podium is situated at the foot of the Puente Mayor, which bridges the Pisuerga river, while the route winds its way through several neighbourhoods and suburbs of Valladolid. For starters, the riders head for El Estadio José Zorrilla, home base of La Liga football club Real Valladolid, before continuing through the Parquesol suburb. After crossing the Pisuerga again the riders take a right turn and storm towards suburb Pinar de Antequera.

While the first part of the route features a number of corners, the section towards Pinar de Antequera is fairly straightforward. Flat, with hardly any corners, so tailor-made for purebred ITT specialists. The same goes for the route back to Vallodolid.

The intermediate times will be taken at kilometre 13.3.

The finish lies on the Passeo Zorrilla, next to the Campo Grande, a large public park in the heart of Valladolid.

Last year’s Vuelta also featured one ITT. Eventual GC winner Remco Evenepoel claimed the stage victory ahead of Primoz Roglic and Rémi Cavagna.
