Course Preview
The 6th stage of the Tour de France Femmes is not entirely flat, but still, things look promising for the sprinters.
Four short climbs – and probably soaring temperatures – are the main obstacles on the road from Albi to Blagnac. The Côte de la Cadène, Côte de Puycels, Côte de Clos Pourtié and Côte de la Gayre are not close together either, making it easy for dropped riders to return to the bunch. Those four are not the only uphill sectors, but they are the toughest, respectively accounting for 2.5 kilometres of climbing at 4.5%, 1.8 kilometres at 6%, 2.6 kilometres at 4.8%, and 1 kilometre at 4.9%.
That says it all. The hills are no match for the brutal hardship ahead during the next stage – the Aspin and the Tourmalet. Moreover, the last summit is situated 40 kilometres before the finish in Blagnac.
