Stage 7 of the 2023 Giro d'Italia is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.

Bais Wins Stage 7
Davide Bais (EOK) won stage 7 of the Giro d'Italia after the second longest stage of the tour took the riders from Capua to Grand Sasso on 218km route. Karel Vacek (COR) took second and Simone Petilli (ICW) was third after spending all day in the breakaway.
"I still can’t understand what I’ve done. This is my first pro win and it’s incredible. I want to dedicate it to our teammate Arturo Grávalos who is fighting a major problem. It’s also for my family and all the team," Bais said after the stage. "At the start of the stage I didn't give myself a chance of victory. I only went in the break to pick-up some mountains points and be up here for Lorenzo Fortunato our GC rider. Then when we got away and realised we could go all the way to the finish, I focused on saving as much energy as I could to do then give it everything in the finale."
Andreas Leknessund (DSM) still sits in pink, 28 seconds ahead of Remco Evenepoel (SOQ).
"I was lucky how the stage unfolded - it was only full gas in the last kilometre. I can be grateful for that and have some more days in pink," Leknessund said. "I was expecting it to be harder. It was also quite boring, I'd say - I was looking forward to fighting - but of course I'm happy and grateful."
