Cort wins stage 10 out of the breakaway

Magnus Cort (EFE) won stage 10 of the Giro d'Italia after outsprinting his breakaway companions to win his grand slam of grand tour wins. Derek Gee (IPT) was second and Alessandro Di Marchi finished third after a wet and wild day at the corsa rosa.

"I'm incredibly happy. Today was such a hard day, one of hardest stages I've done on a bike, to end up with a win is unbelievable," said Cort. "First of all it was a big fight to get in the breakaway then we wanted to push to the summit of the climb to see if we could break the peloton, but we didn't get enough time to make the sprinters stop chasing, so we had no other choice but to keep pushing. I can't remember ever pushing all day like this."

Geraint Thomas (IGD) is still leading the overall competition after Remco Evenepoel (SOQ) dropped out during yesterday's rest day due to COVID-19.
