Course Preview

Stage 10 at the Vuelta a España is an individual time trial of 30.9 kilometres between Elche and Alicante. Apart from a low hill in the last 2 kilometres the parcours is virtually flat.

The first half of the race is expected to take place at breakneck speeds as the pilots go slightly downhill.

GC riders with a strong time trial are unlikely to be very pleased with the amount of time trialing at La Vuelta. As the 30.9 kilometres between Elche and Alicante are all they are going to get. On the other hand, Enric Mas must be thrilled. After all, the home favourite is far from the best time trialist in the world.

Usually, a finish in Alicante is good news for fast finishers. Last year, Arnaud Démare won a Tour of Valencia sprint in the town on the Costa Blanca. The last Vuelta a España sprint in Alicante took place in 2019. Sam Bennett took the spoils.
