Remco Evenepoel does not disappoint expectations in the time trial of the Volta ao Algarve 2022. The rider of the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl was the most awaited man and did not wait, dominating the time trial from the very first rides. A domination by the Belgian, who relegates Stefan Kung to 57 "and Ethan Hayter to 1'05", inflicting important gaps to all rivals for the general classification which obviously now sees him clearly in the lead with 1'06 "over the British and 1 '25 "on Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates). The former leader David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ), on the other hand, slips into seventh position, paying a delay of 2'09 "from his rival at the finish line, finishing with the ninth time of the day. Among the other men in the classification, good performances also for Tobias Foss (Jumbo-Visma), fourth at 1'11 "and Daniel Martinez (Ineos Grenadiers), seventh at 1'30".
