Pogačar wins stage 17

Tadej Pogačar (UAD) took the win on stage 17 of the Tour de France ahead of the yellow jersey Jonas Vingegaard (TJV) and teammate Brandon Mcnulty (UAD) after a two-up sprint between him and the Dane. It's the third win for Pogacar, however the Slovenian was unsuccessful in taking any time out of Vingegaard, who matched him pedal stroke by pedal stroke on each mountain test of the day to Peyragudes.

“I’m disappointed to have missed out on the stage win but it was a very explosive finish that suited Tadej [Pogacar] more than me. There’s not much more I could do and he deserves his victory. I had no problem at the end. Even though I was alone at some point, I’m not disappointed. It was a difficult stage and I only lose 4’’. I was ready to fight. UAE Team Emirates did a very good job with Brandon McNulty and Mikkel Bjerg, it’s good for them. I hope I’ll have recovered tomorrow. I don’t want to think of the victory yet. There’ll be other difficult days, in the mountains of course but also the time trial…”\n
