Vos wins second stage at Tour de France Femmes
Marianne Vos (Team Jumbo-Visma) took her second win at the Tour de France Femmes today after a long drag race sprint against Marta Bastianelli (UAE Team ADQ) and Lotte Kopecky (Team SD Worx) after a hilly 133km of racing to Rosheim. Bastianelli and Kopecky made it back into the peloton after a crash that also held up Lorena Wiebes (Team DSM). However, Wiebes could never catch back on to compete for the stage win.
"Winning on Monday was something special but we’ve been aiming for a second stage victory with the team," Vos said. "We had a perfect scenario with Anna Henderson in the breakaway, but the peloton controlled. The rest of the team got me through the stage safe, well positioned and without spending too much energy. Monday was a really magical moment, and now, winning again, with the yellow jersey, there’s not much more I could wish for. Going into the final week-end with the yellow jersey is actually more than a dream come true. Looking at the profiles of tomorrow and Sunday, it’s definitely another kind of race. There are very strong climbers targeting this week-end and we’ll see other names up front tomorrow."
The Dutch star remains in yellow with 16 seconds on Silvia Persico (Valcar - Travel & Service).
