2022 Paris-Roubaix Femmes Results & Recap
2022 Paris-Roubaix Femmes is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.
Race Recap
What a day of racing across the cobbles of northern France. The second edition of Paris-Roubaix Femmes delivered everything the sport could ask for, with drama, attrition, and a stunning display of strength from Elisa Longo Borghini, who crossed the line at the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux in Roubaix to claim victory for Trek-Segafredo.
From the moment the peloton hit the first sections of pavé, it was clear the race would be brutal. The cobblestones were unforgiving, and the field splintered repeatedly as riders battled not just their rivals but the terrain itself. Punctures and crashes whittled down the contenders, and by the time the race reached its decisive moments, only a small group of the strongest riders remained at the front.
Longo Borghini was imperious throughout the final kilometers, riding with a composure and power that her rivals simply could not match. She attacked with conviction and built a gap that proved insurmountable, arriving at the velodrome with enough time to celebrate a hard-earned and thoroughly deserved win.
Elisa Balsamo and Ludivine Henrion rounded out the podium, but the day truly belonged to Longo Borghini. The Italian climbed off her bike covered in the dust and grime that is the signature of this race, a broad smile on her face as the magnitude of her achievement sank in.
Defending champion Lizzie Deignan was among those who suffered on the day, unable to match the pace of the leaders as the race hit its crucial passages. It is a reminder of just how unforgiving this race can be, even for the very best.
Paris-Roubaix Femmes has once again proven that it belongs among the greatest days on the women's cycling calendar.
