McNulty solos to biggest win of career
After spending the day in the front group, Brandon McNulty (UAD) broke away from his 10 breakaway companions on the Col de la Mure, the final climb of the day, and held off chasers for 39km to enjoy his third win of the season, and his second in the Ardeche. McNulty finished almost two minutes ahead of Franck Bonnamour (B&B Hotels-KTM), who outsprinted Matteo Jorgenson (Movistar) for second place after 191km of racing.
Wout Van Aert (TJV) fell out of contention on the Col de la Mure, leaving Primož Roglič (TJV) isolated, but not helpless as his rivals began to go on the offensive. The Slovenian now leads the Race to the Sun by 39 seconds ahead of Simon Philip Yates (BEX). Pierre Latour (TEN) is third at 41 seconds.
