Course Preview

At 153 kilometres, the 14th stage on the Giro is a circuit race through the hills east of Turin. The amount of climbing adds up to 3,470 metres.

Riders who like to excel on the flat should give it a go in the first 10 kilometres, as the rest of the route goes either up or down. The action begins with the 5.5 kilometres ascent at 5.6% up the Colle della Maddalena and the short and sharp climb to Santa Brigida.

The riders cross the finish line for the first time after 43 kilometres to continue to the base of the Bric del Duca. This ascent is 5.5 kilometres long and rises at 8.1%. After passing the Basilica of Superga and descending for 12 kilometres the riders re-enter the original route in Pecetto Torinese, at the foot of the Colle della Maddalena.

After one more full lap of 55 kilometres – again featuring the Colle della Maddalena, Roccia Santa Brigida and Bric del Duca – the riders are back in Pecetto Torinese with 32 kilometres remaining. They tackle the Colle della Maddalena and the Santa Brigida one more time to descend into Turin.

The finish line is located at the same place where the opening ITT of last year’s Giro finished – in the shadow of the church of Gran Madre di Dio.
