Stage 6 of the 2021 Volta a Catalunya is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.

Sagan wins stage 7
Peter Sagan (Bora - Hansgrohe) won stage 7 of the Volta a Catalunya after outsprinting Daryl Impey (Israel Start-Up Nation) and Juan Sebastian Molano (UAE Team Emirates), who took second and third, in Mataro. The Slovakian has seemingly returned to form after recovering from Covid 19.
“I feel great, thank you,” he told reporters at the finish line. "We planned to control the race from the start, and I have to say thanks to all my teammates. They controlled the race from the start until the end. It was a very fast and great race today. It was pretty hard from the start, after Tirreno-Adriatico and Milan-San Remo without a long break. I’m a little bit tired now. But I’m very happy for this victory. It’s a good start to the season, especially for what happened in the last two months. It was not easy, but now it looks nice.”
Adam Yates and his Ineos Grenadiers team had an easier ride in today's 193km stage from Tarragona to Mataro. With no threat from other GC contenders, the team could sit back and allow the sprinters teams to take control for the day. With the top 3 on GC all Ineos riders, the Volta is theirs for the taking on the final day.
"It was good, it was the first day we didn't have to work or pull or do anything really," Yates said. "It was about staying in position and staying out of trouble. It was a welcome rest, because like I've been saying for a few days, the Barcelona stage tomorrow is going to be super tough. We needed to save all the energy we could for tomorrow."
