Stage 2 of the 2021 Tour of the Alps is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.

Yates takes victory on stage 2
Simon Yates (Bike Exchange) took the lead in the Tour of the Alps after outclimbing his rivals to win a mountainous stage 2 - to Feichten im Kaunertal in southern Austria.
"I tried really hard, it was a very tough climb, those guys weren't easy to get rid of," Yates said. "I tried several times but that really took it out of me for the valley road to the finish. It's a good day for us, my first win of the year so I'm happy. So far so good, there are still a lot of hard stages to come. We'll see what we can do in the next few days and then go from there."
Yates finished 41 seconds ahead of Pavel Sivakov (Ineos Grenadiers) and 58 seconds ahead of Daniel Martin (Israel Start-up Nation). He'll wear the green leaders jersey for stage 3. Sivakov is second on the general classification, 45 seconds behind.
