2021 Tour de Romandie Stage 2 Results & Recap
Stage 2 of the 2021 Tour de Romandie is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.
Race Recap
Colbrelli wins stage 2
Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain Victorious) won the third day of the Tour de Romandie after a lumpy climbing day from La Neuveville to Saint-Imier. The Italian sprinter won ahead of Patrick Bevin (Israel Start-Up Nation) in a reduced bunch sprint after 168.5km of racing. Best young rider, Marc Hirschi (UAE Team Emirates), took third.
Rohan Dennis (Ineos Grenadiers) is still in yellow after surviving several late attacks on the final climb from Sepp Kuss (Jumbo-Visma), Michael Woods (Israel Start-Up Nation) and Kenny Elissonde (Trek-Segafredo) while working for Geraint Thomas and Richie Porte, who sit second and third on GC.
"With three of us at the front they can tell I’m happy to sacrifice myself. On the slight downhill it’s quite fast and I don’t think anybody in their right mind would say they are going to go too far (off the front). So save their energy for another day. Tomorrow is another solid day and then Saturday is the queen stage and I’m sure there will be a lot of fireworks up there."\n
