Alaphilippe wins Fleche Wallonne
Julian Alaphilippe (DECEUNINCK - QUICK-STEP) won Fleche Wallonne today after outsprinting Primož Roglič (JUMBO-VISMA) on the Mur de Huy. The world champion was the star of the Mur for the third time as Roglic faded a few metres from the line and the Frenchman surged ahead.
"I just wanted to show I had a strong head. Since the start of the season, I haven't won a lot, and that didn't stop me from having fun, but I really wanted to raise my arms again. I put some pressure on myself - not pressure, but I wanted to win again. It does me an enormous amount of good to win, especially in the jersey. I'm really happy," Alaphilippe said.
41-year-old Alejandro Valverde (MOVISTAR TEAM) finished third, six seconds behind after 194km of racing over 12 climbs.
