Course Preview

At 152.8 kilometres, the 4th stage is the longest of the Tour Down Under. The last 40 kilometres are virtually flat.

The race kicks off in Norwood to commence into the Adelaide Hills via Gorge Road. The first half of the race is rather lumpy before the literal summit is reached shortly after moving through Mount Torrens. Prospect Hill is the only KOM climb of the day, although the uphill gradients are moderate.

The route descends out of the Adelaide Hills and to the Murray River. The riders move through Mannum to push on for another 40 kilometres or so on the flat to Murray Bridge.

The Tour Down Under did finish before in Murray Bridge, but that’s a long time ago. In 2001, Fabio Sacchi sprinted to victory in an edition that was won by Stuart O’Grady.

Two intermediate sprints – at kilometre 18.1 and at kilometre 40.3 – come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds each, while the first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds.

The 4th stage of the Tour Down Under starts at 11.00 and the expected finish is at 15.10 – both are local times.
