Stage 2 of the 2020 Tour de Suisse is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.

What a dramatic day of racing here in Switzerland as the peloton tackled the second stage of this year's Tour de Suisse. The stage ended in a bunch sprint, and it was Matteo Trentin of CCC Team who came out on top, punching his fist in the air as he crossed the finish line to claim a deserved victory.
The stage itself was relatively flat for much of its duration, making it an ideal opportunity for the fast men in the bunch to put themselves in position for the finish. Despite a few early attempts to establish a breakaway, the peloton kept things tightly controlled throughout the day, with the sprinters' teams working hard to ensure the race came down to a mass gallop.
As the final kilometres approached, the pace increased significantly and the bunch began to stretch and fragment under the pressure of the accelerations. Teams traded turns at the front, jostling for prime position ahead of the anticipated sprint finish.
When the moment arrived, Trentin proved strongest of all, displaying excellent form and timing to power past his rivals in the closing metres. The Italian-born rider, who races under Swiss licence, produced a well-timed effort to secure the stage win in front of a reduced but still sizable group of sprinters.
With the victory, Trentin also takes over the overall race lead, adding the leader's jersey to what has been a superb day for him and his CCC teammates, who can be very proud of the work they put in during the final run-in to the finish.
