2020 Critérium du Dauphiné Stage 2 Live Coverage

Course Preview
The 2nd stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné is 135 kilometres long. Which is enough to serve three intermediate climbs and a finish climb on the Col de Porte, which is an irregular beast of 17.5 kilometres.
The Col de Porte is also included in the upcoming Tour de France, although the climb will be tackled from the other side on the 15th of September. Furthermore, it is an intermediate climb on the road to Villard de Lans, while the first rider to reach the summit in the Critérium du Dauphiné is likely to take the leader’s jersey.
The 2nd stage of the Dauphiné sets off from Vienne to serve two warm-up climbs in the first half of the race. Côte de Virville and Côte Roybon – 4.1 kilometres at 5.5% and 1.5 kilometres at 7.1%, respectively – are done after 60 kilometres before a long and gradual descent leads to the foot of the Côte Maillet. This ascent is 6.2 kilometres long and slopes at an average of 8%.
At the top of the Maillet there is 36.5 kilometres left to race. More than half of this distance is swallowed up by the massive Col de Porte. The first 6 kilometres are extremely irregular, featuring both a kilometre at 11% and a downhill. This last section leads onto the rest of the test, which is 11 kilometres long and serves an average gradient of 8%, but also a lot of double digit ramps.
