Stage 1 of the 2018 Tour de Suisse is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.

BMC Racing wins team time trial
Coming into the opening stage of the Tour de Suisse as the pre-stage favorites, BMC Racing delivered on the expectations taking the 18.3 kilometre time trial victory by 20 seconds ahead of Team Sunweb. Quick-Step Floors rounded out the top three. \nBMC’s performance put Stefan Küng (BMC Racing Team) into the leaders jersey and the best young rider jersey heading into tomorrow’s hilly circuit race.
Setting off at five minute intervals, 21 teams took the start of the team time trial in Frauenfeld, an area practically home to current race leader, Stefan KĂĽng (BMC Racing Team).
Setting the early best time was UAE Emirates, with a 21:08. They held their lead for a long while, and even Team Sky couldn’t deliver a stronger ride, eventually finishing in 14th place more than a minute back.
It was Quick Step Floors who eventually unseated the UAE team with a time of 20:45 and from there the time continued to get faster and faster, with Bahrain-Merida, Movistar, Bora-Hansgohe and Michelton-Scott slotting in close behind the Belgian squad.
Team Sunweb were the next team to set a fast time of 20:37, which would turn out to be the second fastest after BMC crossed the line.
Tomorrow's stage is a 155 km circuit race featuring four laps of a 39 kilometre circuit around Frauenfeld.
