Course Preview
Stage 9 will be another long day in the saddle at the Giro d'italia, with plenty of climbing and mileage to contend with punctuated by Montagna Pantani, Gran Sasso (Campo Imperatore) an never-ending 45-km climb. The final ascent flattens out in the middle, but kicks back up to more than 13 percent a few kilometers from the summit. The altitude reaches 2,135 metres, which rivals for the Cima Coppi, the highest peak of the Giro d’Italia, but it won't make it this year. The Colle delle Finestre on stage 19 is just a bit higher at 2,178 metres.
