Course Preview

Now we're really getting in the challenging portion of this year's edition of the Giro d'Italia. This high mountain stage features five categorized climbs finishing with the massive Mount Zoncolon, regarded as the hardest climb in Europe. At 10 kilometers in length, averaging 11 percent with a blistering maximum grade of 22 percent, it's enough to strike fear into the greatest of climbers. The final kilometers of the Zoncolon are considered to be the most difficult. After two hairpins at three kilometers, the road rises up from 12 to 18 percent. From there, three tunnels greet the riders consecutively before the last 500 meters that averages 11 percent, then it kicks back up to 16 percent by the hairpin just 250 meters from the line. \n
