Course Preview
It may start off quiet, but we guarantee this stage will finish with a bang. At 181 kilometres, the fourth stage in the Critérium du Dauphiné starts in Chazey-sur-Ain and finishes in Lans-en-Vercors and visits some serious climbs along the way. The biggest of which is the HC Col du Mont Noir, a 17.5 kilometre ascent averaging a leg-burning seven percent. The steepest section of the climb starts four kilometres in when it pitches up to nine percent.
Before they reach the Mont Noir, the riders will have a decent warm up on the Col de Toutes Aures, which is 2.5 kilometres and averages 5.1 percent. The final climb's summit sees the stage race finish. The Lans-en-Vercors is a category 2 and reaches an altitude of 1,409 metres. The ascent is 4.8 kilometres long and averages 7.5 percent.
