Course Preview

At 179 kilometres, the first road race stage in the Critérium du Dauphiné will be a hilly one, as is typical of the race. Starting in the Ardeche region, the same town as the prologue, the riders will have seven opportunities for king of the mountain points, with the first located just nine kilometres out from the official start (category 2) and the last at four to go (category 4).

Entering the Loire region, the riders will encounter a closing 6.1 kilometre circuit that they'll tackle twice. The circuit includes the category four climb at Grangent reservoir which is 1.3 kilometres at 4.5 percent, which is raced twice. The finish at Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert will offer time bonuses for the top three riders across the line.
