Race Recap

What a dramatic day of racing in Switzerland as the peloton tackled Stage 4 and the sprinters once again had their chance to shine. The day unfolded largely as expected with the breakaway going clear early in the stage, giving the escapees a chance to enjoy their time at the front before the peloton, controlled by the sprint teams, gradually reeled them back in as the finish approached.

The intermediate sprints and the rolling terrain kept things lively throughout the day, with riders testing their legs and teams positioning for the finale. As the breakaway was absorbed in the closing kilometers, the inevitable lead-out trains began to form, with riders jostling for position and fighting for the wheels that would carry them to the line.

When the sprint finally erupted, it was a fierce and chaotic battle through the streets, with riders threading through gaps and pushing hard to the finish. Niccolo Bonifazio proved to be the fastest man on the day, timing his effort perfectly and powering across the line to take the stage victory. The Italian sprinter showed impressive finishing speed to claim the win ahead of his rivals.

In the general classification, the time gaps between the overall contenders remained largely unchanged, with the top riders content to manage the stage safely and avoid any unnecessary risks. The race leader retained the overall lead heading into the next stage, with the real battles in the high mountains still to come as the race continues to unfold.
