Course Preview

Culminating with category 1 climb, today’s 187.5 km stage will certainly be one for the late breakaway riders to capitalize on. We can expect the leaders of the stage to change hands several times on this stage, due to the jagged style of the course profile.

Frankie Andreu's take: This could be the first day for the stage hunters. Getting into a breakaway doesn’t ensure success but it could be the first day the breakaway makes it to the line first. With a cat 1 climb only 11km from the finish, the winner will have to be a strong climber. The stage is shorter so the riders will not be afraid of the distance and they will push the pace the entire way. This will be a difficult stage to control because the earlier climbs will get rid of many of the domestiques and the G.C. contenders could end up all looking at each other to see who takes control of the race.
