Course Preview
Stage 17 of the Tour de France highlights some massive, yet iconic ascents: Col de la Croix de Fer, the Télégraphe and the formidable Galibier. This is a stage that will help define the leader of the race, so GC contenders must have good legs today if they want to be in the mix.
Frankie Andreu's take: As we enter into the Alps, these climbs may be longer but they will be less steep. When four climbs ascend for a total of 60km the riders have better have their best climbing legs of the race. The Tour has stuffed three of the largest climbs in the Alps (Croix de Fer, Telegraphe, and Galibier) all into this stage. Many times there is a talk of stages that will decide the TDF, this is one of them!
