Course Preview

At 165 kilometres, the parcours of stage 16 from Le Puy-en-Velay to Romans-sur-Isère will feature hills in the first part before a long descent plunges down to a wavy 50 kilometers segment. Time for another bunch sprint.

Frankie Andreu's take: With the second rest day behind the riders, the focus becomes on getting to Paris. A shorter stage for the sprinters and with some help from their teammates there is plenty of time to catch up if one should falter on the short early climbs of the day. This could be another day for the breakaway to succeed but if the peloton remains large there will be plenty of horsepower to bring back any escapees. With a dead flat run in, the speeds will be high and the biggest problem for the G.C. riders will be getting under the 3km banner to prevent any unwanted lost time do to the chaotic finish.
